Queensland’s Nikki Parkinson has taken Australia’s blogging world by storm with her popular blog Styling You, which recently took out the inaugural Best Australian Blog Competition 2011.
The competition’s judges said of Nikki’s blog:
Styling You was a stand out as a regularly updated blog rich in good writing, quality multimedia content and social media engagement. Not only is the blog visually attractive and an engaging read, Nikki also has a strong community of supporters.
According to Nikki, Styling You is all about “fashion and beauty for the real world”.
In 2008, Nikki left the world of journalism after 20 years, set up an office in the corner of her lounge room and started blogging in between sorting through people’s wardrobes and taking them shopping.
Nikki’s blogging work has been the springboard into a broader media profile – she’s regularly seen in Start-Up Smart and magazines such as Vogue, as well as heard on ABC Radio in Brisbane.
According to this interview in CareforKids.com.au, Nikki’s week is “a mix of “mummy” days, client meetings and quality time on my laptop!”.
Styling You attracts more than 25,000 unique visitors and more than 100,000 page views each month – “That is enough online traffic to generate advertising revenue and allow for the site to pay for itself,” Nikki says in this interview.
