Honey - The key ingredient of Grandma’s medicine
We cannot use the word ‘Magical healer’ often, but in case of Honey, we will use it. Yes!!! Honey has magical powers to heal and mitigate the illness or disease. As we all know, Honey is not herbal medicine, but it is one of one of the most plant products available used widely for medicinal purpose.
Honey can be classified according to what plant honey is collected from. Simply, Honey is nectar of the flowers. Honey, mixed with several home ingredients, can be a very powerful medicine which will have least side effects. Here are several steps to use honey to treat different kind of illness:
For Cough and Cold
You can mix honey with lemon juice and drink it. It helps a lot in treating cough and cold.
For Chest congestion
You can boil three cups of water containing 2 fresh leaves of betel leaves and 4 crushed peppercorns. Boil it until it reduced to half to make it more concentrate. Add a teaspoon of honey in it and drink it every morning and night.
Boil Basil leaves and clove in a glass of water and add a teaspoon of honey. Boil until it reduced to the half and drink it every morning. For fever and cough of children, you can simply mix warm water with honey and give two teaspoon of the mixture every morning.
For Skin disease and Skin tanning
You can mix Curd, lemon juice and honey and apply it on the tanned parts of the body. And wash it after 15 min. Repeat this twice a day. You will see the surprising results after 15 days.
Especially for face tanning, you can make a face scrub by mixing a bowl of oat meal, 5-6 crushed almonds, lemon juice and two tablespoon of honey and some milk. You can scrub on the face and it will also help in removing dead skin and increasing blood circulation.
Application of honey contains a pinch of turmeric powder on face can reduce wrinkles.
Treating inflammation of Tonsillitis
Prepare a mixture of Honey, turmeric powder and little water. Warm it a little and drink that lukewarm mixture at night to get relief in pain caused due to tonsillitis.
Make a juice of Ginger and Honey and drink it at every morning in fasted condition. It gives best results in treating indigestion. It increases hunger in children and helps in appetite.
For Healthy Hairs
Mix Honey in Curd and apply that mixture in hairs after shampoo. It acts as a natural conditioner and makes hairs shiny and smooth. You can add honey in henna preparation, too. It will not make the hair cuticles dry and gives moisture to hairs.
All in all, Honey is a key ingredient in many home remedies which is toxin free and natural.
